Last week, former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb said that current Eagles signal-caller Carson Wentz is under a lot of pressure toEagles news: Lane Johnson fires back at Donovan McNabb over Carson Wentz comments be successful in the near future, saying that Philadelphia should move on from Wentz if he does not lead the team to an NFC Championship Game within the next two years.

Eagles offensive lineman Lane Johnson did not take too kindly to McNabb's remarks, first taking to Twitter to tell McNabb that this is why “nobody respects you when you come back.”

Johnson then went on 94WIP to further explain himself:

“This is what I meant — every training camp we have all of these ex-players come and shake our hands, wish us good luck,” he explained. “Then, they just go out and just talk hate. I feel there is a lot of envy, jealously, and I see a lot of fakery. It isn’t just me — a lot of other teammates see it too. You would think the best quarterback in franchise history would try to build up a young man that looks up to him instead of always criticizing him, critiquing him and wishing he would fail so he could be the missing link and feel better himself. That is what I don’t like.”

Wentz has certainly had a strange run in Philadelphia.

He was drafted by the Eagles in 2016, and as soon as his second year with the club, he was already pushing for an MVP award. However, he tore his ACL in Week 14, and Nick Foles then stepped in and led Philly to its first-ever Super Bowl title.

Then, this past season, Wentz was knocked out after just 11 games due to a back injury. Foles once again stepped in and led the Eagles to an upset playoff win over the Chicago Bears.

But, Foles is now with the Jacksonville Jaguars, so this is officially Wentz's team going forward. Or, at least that's what most of us think.
