It surprised many people when the Philadelphia Eagles used their second pick in the 2020 NFL draft on a quarterback, selecting Jalen Hurts with the 53rd overall pick.
Several NFL analysts believe that the Eagles will be using Hurts as a gadget player this upcoming season, similar to Taysom Hill of the New Orleans Saints.
However, Oklahoma Sooners head coach Lincoln Riley believes otherwise. In a recent appearance on NFL Network's NFL Now, Riley expressed the belief that Hurts is there to be a quarterback, not a gadget player:
Nevertheless, selecting Hurts may be the best thing the Eagles did this offseason. Knowing that Wentz has an intensive record of injuries, Hurts may be the perfect option at backup.
This past season at Oklahoma, Hurts recorded 3,851 passing yards and 32 touchdowns.
