When the Philadelphia Eagles kick off their season against the Washington Football Team in Week 1, they'll be sans one of their key contributors on offense. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Miles Sanders has been officially ruled out versus Washington.

Sanders has been battling a nagging hamstring injury in training camp and it appeared that he was on track to start on Sunday. However, the second-year back didn't make the trip to Washington with the team as the team takes a cautious approach with him.

Following the departure of Jordan Howard this offseason, Sanders is slated to see a massive workload in Philadelphia's offense. Even with a shared workload with Howard as a rookie, Sanders notched 1,327 scrimmage yards and six touchdowns. his 1,327 yards from scrimmage were the most among rookie running backs in 2019.

Seeing that Sanders won't be in the backfield on Sunday, the Eagles will likely use a couple of guys to replace his production. Both Boston Scott and Corey Clement will likely see some reps with the offense versus Washington.

Throughout the offseason, the Eagles have endured a couple of vital injuries along their offensive line. Besides Brandon Brooks, Philadelphia also lost Andre Dillard for the 2020 season. Not to mention, Lane Johnson is also recovering from ankle surgery and his status for Sunday is uncertain.

Provided all of that, the Eagles may be holding out Sanders due to the team's injury woes on the offensive line. Regardless of whether or not that is the case, Philadelphia will be leaning on their other running backs with Sanders officially sidelined for Week 1.
