The Philadelphia Eagles earned a much needed win in their Week 15 matchup against the Washington Football Team. However, head coach Nick Sirianni wasn't able to celebrate for long. Sirianni tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday, after feeling symptomatic. The Eagles announced the news via social media Wednesday afternoon.

Sirianni is now in the NFL's COVID-19 protocols, and is expected to work with the team remotely. The Eagles also stated that the first year head coach is “hopeful” that he will be able to be on the sidelines for Week 16 against the Giants.

The positive test comes just one day after the Eagles hosted Washington. Their game was one of three that were rescheduled due to COVID-19 outbreaks in teams around the NFL. Washington had over 20 players on their COVID-19 list last week.

After the news of Sirianni's positive test broke, a clip from Tuesday night's broadcast resurfaced. Eagles reporter Josh Tolentino tweeted an image of Sirianni interacting with Washington head coach Ron Rivera after the game.

At Lincoln Financial Field, face coverings are required for all individuals inside of the stadium, but not outdoors. According to the stadium's website, “Individuals who are not fully vaccinated are strongly encouraged to wear a mask at all times unless actively eating or drinking.” Sirianni did not wear a face covering during the game, making it safe to assume that he is fully vaccinated.

Rivera, in red, is wearing a cloth face mask. The head coach is fully vaccinated, meaning that he does not need to wear a mask while outdoors at Lincoln Financial Field. However, Rivera is immunocompromised after being diagnosed with cancer last year, and wears a masks as an extra precaution. Hopefully, the brief interaction and limited touch between the two head coaches does not result in more positive tests for either team.
