2022 NFL free agency opened up this week, and the Philadelphia Eagles just made a big move in their front office in addition to the work they've done on the roster. General manager Howie Roseman has agreed to a three-year extension through 2025, according to Jimmy Kempski of PhillyVoice.

This extension matches up Roseman with Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni, per Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Philadelphia is coming off a playoff appearance in the 2021 season, though the postseason stay was short. The Eagles got pounded by Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. That followed up an awful 2020 campaign in which Philly went 4-11-1, which spelled the end of Doug Pederson's tenure with the club and ushered in the Sirianni era.

Roseman has been in the organization since 2000 in a variety of roles. He became general manager in 2010 and officially held that title through the 2014 season. 2015 saw a shakeup in the front office because of Chip Kelly, but Roseman effectively became the GM again in 2016 after Kelly was fired. Roseman officially got the GM title back in 2019 to go along with his title of executive vice president of football operations.

Roseman hired Pederson in 2016, and the Eagles won the Super Bowl in just his second season as head coach by beating the New England Patriots. Philly made two more postseason appearances after that magical run before the disaster in 2020 ended things with Pederson.

The Eagles GM is now trying to build his team back up to glory again with Jalen Hurts as the quarterback. Roseman gave Hurts a major weapon by drafting DeVonta Smith in the first round in 2021, and he just made a big splash by signing Haason Reddick in free agency. Now Roseman has some security with this new deal as he continues to work.
