The NFL offseason is in full swing as NFL teams alike are looking to improve their rosters for the 2021 season. For the Philadelphia Eagles, they've already traded Carson Wentz away to the Indianapolis Colts, but it seems the front office is looking for a trade partner for tight end Zach Ertz.

They refuse to release him to free agency, which makes sense considering he's still a solid tight end, and the front office can gain something valuable in return by trading him. However, it seems as though Ertz is, “getting antsy for Philadelphia to get a deal done,” per Tom Pelissero.

“Ertz is growing increasingly impatient with the team to get something done. To this point, the price has just been too high for other teams. The Eagles have been looking for a draft pick, something in third, maybe fourth-round range,” per Tom Pelissero.

For a tight end who is 30 years old and dealing with injuries, that's a steep price tag to ask for from opposing franchises. Ertz has been a phenomenal tight end in his career, and it sounds like Philadelphia is working to get a deal done more so for him, as “they would be happy to have Ertz on the roster in 2021,” according to Tom Pelissero.

Ertz has been an extremely reliable tight end throughout most of his career. Playing for the Eagles since 2013, he's been able to haul in 6,078 receiving yards throughout his career, as well as 36 touchdowns. He excels in the passing game and is a solid blocker as well. Ertz has finished within the top three in catches, yards, and first downs for all tight ends since 2018, per PFF.

The only thing preventing a trade right now is Philadelphia's asking price. Ertz seems eager to leave Philadelphia after they shipped away Wentz to the Colts earlier this offseason. The franchise is making a shift in a different direction, and Ertz is ready to move on as well.
