Atlanta Falcons first-round pick Kaleb McGary finally got back on the field on Thursday night after recovering with a cardiac ablation procedure. McGary played 40 snaps during the game and after the game coach Dan Quinn said he was impressed.

Before the heart procedure, McGary was competing for a starting tackle job but after the procedure, it was expected that he might not start until later in the season. Quinn wants to see a little more from McGary but seemed to leave the door open for McGary starting week one against the Minnesota Vikings.

“I think we’ll have to take him through the practice week,” Quinn said, via the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “But let me go back and watch through it. I’m sure, once we get a chance to look better at it and see how he did. He’s been in practice against our guys.”

McGary did say after the game he wasn't sure he would have been able to play the whole game because of the conditioning and that could be a factor into Quinn's week one decision.

If McGary doesn't get the start it will probably be Ty Sambrailo or Matt Gono who will see the field first next Sunday.

Even if he doesn't get the start on Sunday it will probably only take a couple of weeks of practices and conditioning until he is ready to play a full game. Once that happens it would make the most sense for McGary to start since talent-wise he has the most skill of the three big men.
