In the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft, the Atlanta Falcons added more firepower to their offense with the selection of former Alabama wide receiver Calvin Ridley with the 26th overall pick.

According to D. Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Falcons have utilized Ridley's versatility on the field using him in various roles in rookie minicamp this offseason.

Falcons first-round draft pick Calvin Ridley moved around a lot at the rookie minicamp Saturday.

While his snaps were reduced, he saw action returning kickoffs and punts, and on offense, he played both in the slot and on the outside.

“So, we got a chance to see him (do) a variety of things, and that will continue through the OTAs,” Falcons coach Dan Quinn said.

Through his three years at the collegiate level, he was used in various roles with the primary part of his production coming at wide receiver with 224 catches for 2,781 receiving yards with 19 receiving touchdowns. His ability to be able to be a versatile offensive weapon that could be depended in that nature as he etches out his role with the Falcons in his first season. He could quickly help provide a special tandem alongside All-Pro wideout Julio Jones in the passing game for Pro Bowl quarterback Matt Ryan.

Although his production dropped in his 2017 campaign, Ridley recorded 63 catches for 967 receiving yards and five touchdowns in 14 games. He has shown the ability to be a dynamic talent with his great speed along with strong body control while making catches in traffic and down the field.

The fact that 23-year-old has shown that he can play on several different spots on the field could quickly ingrain him into a significant role in the offensive game plan. It is a unique opportunity in front of him to be a part of a potential title contender next season.
