The Atlanta Falcons are struggling to get things on track this season. They’ve lost three straight games and are currently have one of the worst defenses in the league. With the way things are going at the moment, it doesn’t seem like they’ll be able to hold up against the Arizona Cardinals.

The situation has turned dire enough that head coach Dan Quinn has taken over some duties as the defensive coordinator. Looking at the Falcons’ record so far, it doesn’t seem like his strategies are working. The Houston Texans, in particular, had a field day against the Falcons, as they managed to score 53 points.

However, Quinn isn’t giving up his defensive playcalling duties just yet. Kevin Patra reports on Quinn’s opinion on the team’s defensive situation:

“My job is to fix it,” Dan Quinn said this week, via ESPN’s Vaughn McClure. “Moments like this are a reminder of why we coach and play, because we love it so much. But my ego would never be as big as the team. I always do what’s best for the team. … If I felt [giving up the play-calling] was best, trust me, I would have certainly done that. I know what we can do, we can do better. So that’s kind of where my mind is.

“I recognize the question, for sure, when you’re not achieving the results you have. But trust me on that one: My ego is never as big as the team. I will always do what’s best for that. But at this time, I don’t think that’s where I’m at.”

He better finds a way to address the defensive issues soon, or he will see the Falcons suffer on the way to another lottery pick.
