The Atlanta Falcons have been battered by injuries on the defensive side of the ball throughout the season that saw a couple of key contributors out of the lineup.

However, it appears that the Falcons will be getting back one of their main factors defensively with star linebacker Deion Jones being able to return on Wednesday that could put him in play to take the field against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 11 action.

Per Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk.

Jones will take things a bit further this week. Head coach Dan Quinn said before the team’s practice that Jones would participate for the first time since going on injured reserve after the first game of the season.

Jones is not eligible to play this week, but he could play in Week 11 against the Cowboys if all goes well in practice over the next couple of weeks.

Jones has been on the injured reserve since suffering a foot injury in the 18-12 season opener loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. This was a significant loss for the defense as he has proven to be the anchor of the front seven in his first two seasons in the league. He is coming off earning his first Pro Bowl nod last year after racking up a career-high 138 tackles along with three interceptions.

The 24-year-old imminent return should provide a huge boost defensively for the Falcons, who rank 26th overall including 26th against the pass and 12th against the run. Jones' presence should see them have improvements on both fronts over the final stretch of the season to help the Falcons' push to the playoffs.

Atlanta has picked it up over the last few weeks after a slow start out of the gate with three straight wins that has pushed them up to the .500 mark on the season. The Falcons are set to take the road to face the Cleveland Browns on Sunday afternoon.
