The NFC South has undergone some significant changes this offseason. Regardless, Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan is expecting it to be as competitive as ever in the 2019 NFL season.

This particular division has proven to be one of the more competitive over the last several years. According to ESPN's Vaughn McClure, Ryan noted that the New Orleans Saints seem to provide a special challenge:

“It’s always tough,” Ryan said of the division. “Drew [Brees] is always tough. New Orleans has a great offense. They play really good defense. Cam Jordan is one of the best players in the league on the defensive side of the ball.”

Although Ryan credits the whole division, it is clear that he regards the Saints as perhaps the most revered team at this point in time. Of course, this is certainly understandable considering they ran away with the division title with a 13-3 record. Despite all the changes that were made in the NFC South this offseason, New Orleans is still pegged as the team to beat going into next season.

This primarily has to do with the fact that the Falcons are coming off a bit of a down year by their standards after missing the playoffs. Fortunately, Ryan appears to have high expectations for this group moving forward.

He is not the only one hoping for a potential resurgence in 2019. The Carolina Panthers have not been shy about expressing the state of quarterback Cam Newton's shoulder at this point in the offseason. They also managed to shift the landscape of the division in their favor with the signing of former Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive tackle Gerald McCoy.

Speaking of which, the Bucs undoubtedly have undergone the most changes to their roster and coaching staff. While there is still plenty of optimism to go around in Tampa Bay, it may not resonate with the rest of the NFC South.
