New Atlanta Falcons running back Todd Gurley has heard the same thing since Super Bowl 53: he does not look fully healthy.

Gurley was one of the top running backs in the NFL in 2017 and 2018. But reports surfaced he was dealing with a knee injury leading up that Super Bowl against the New England Patriots. He was a non-factor in that game, and Gurley's 2019 campaign hardly assuaged fears about the knee.

However, the former Georgia Bulldog is frustrated by the idea he is injury prone. Gurley states he has played in close to 90 percent of all games since his rookie year in 2015.

Gurley stated the following in an interview with Atlanta radio station 92.9 The Game on Friday.

“You have to be consistent,” Gurley said. “When you set the bar so high, people get used to the performance being like that. As a player, you want to give that performance as well. But like I said, I’ve been able to be — no matter what you say about the knee — I’ve been able to be healthy over these last five years. I’ve been able to play in damn near 90% and a lot of people in the NFL can’t say that. It’s a tough league. Anything can happen. It’s 100% guaranteed to get injured. It’s not like I messed my knee up last year. This is something I’ve been able to deal with and maintain for the last six years.”

Indeed, Gurley has actually played in 91 percent of all contests since 2015, missing just seven games in five years.

Gurley did have the worst year of his career in terms of yards from scrimmage (1,064) in 2019. But he was also running behind an offensive line that ranked 31st in football, according to Pro Football Focus.

The Falcons are not very concerned about the state of Gurley's knee. And perhaps a change of scenery will be good for the 25-year-old as he hopes to reclaim his status as one of the top running backs in the NFL.
