The Atlanta Falcons made quite a splash with the addition of running back Todd Gurley this offseason. However, he seems to understand that the team is still far from a finished product ahead of the 2020 NFL season.

There is certainly no shortage of firepower on offense for quarterback Matt Ryan to rely on this season. Gurley said during an appearance on SiriusXM NFL Radio that the onus still falls on the key group of players to make it come to fruition:

“I mean, obviously, we look good on paper. A lot of stuff looks good on paper, but just have to be able to put it together and make it work on game day.”

Gurley finds himself in familiar territory as part of an offense that boasted a surplus of weapons given his days as the centerpiece of the Los Angeles Rams' resurgence. Regardless, he knows full well that meshing into a high-scoring group is not something that happens overnight.

Although Gurley may be hesitant to get the hype train in Atlanta going, there is still good reason to be confident. After all, he will have an opportunity to re-establish himself as a bonafide workhorse after his role dwindled in Los Angeles last year. Meanwhile, Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley remain as one of the most talented receiver tandems in the league.

Having this much star power on offense can often become a double-edged sword for most teams since there are so many mouths to feed on offense. It will be interesting to see whether or not the Falcons can find a way to maximize their potential.
