The New York Giants will travel to Foxborough to face the undefeated New England Patriots on Thursday night. At first glance, there aren't many fantasy football implications for New York. But if you're interested in playing someone on the Giants, Golden Tate could be a big-time sleeper play this week.

Yes, the Patriots are heavy favorites in this game. And yes, their secondary is the most talented group in the NFL. At the same time, someone is going to have to provide some offense for the Giants in Week 6.

Coming into the game, New York will be sans Saquon Barkley, Wayne Gallman, Sterling Shepard, and Evan Engram in their offense. Therefore, that leaves Daniel Jones with a very limited amount of weapons to target against the reigning Super Bowl Champs.

With the injuries on the offense, Tate is one of the only remaining reliable weapons in the offense. The rookie quarterback is almost forced to look in his direction on Thursday night to generate some offense.

Additionally, with New York likely playing from behind, Tate could have an increased role in the offense in Week 6. The veteran receiver returned from a four-game suspension in Week 5 versus the Minnesota Vikings. But he didn't get many chances to help the offense move the ball this past Sunday.

At the end of the game, Tate finished with just three catches for 13 yards in his debut with the Giants. After expressing his disappointment, Pat Shurmur may be inclined to utilize him more as the team attempts to do the impossible in Week 6.

When looking for a sleeper player in fantasy football, you want someone who will have a high volume of targets. Along with volume, you want a player who has an ability to have a decent ceiling. Even with everything going against him, Golden Tate could be a low-owned option that could provide you with a decent performance this week.

However, if you're looking for a safe option in fantasy football; don't look in Tate's direction until he proves that he'll be a reliable weapon in the Giants offense. Especially this week, where he faces a New England defense that hasn't allowed a passing touchdown this season.

Along with allowing no passing touchdowns, the Patriots have given up just 6.8 points per game this season (best in the NFL). In addition, Bill Belichick's group has accumulated 24 sacks and 11 interceptions (both are the most in the NFL).

Again, there is so much to take into account that should point you towards not starting Tate in Week 6. With that in mind, if you're looking for an intriguing option, the Giants receiver could surprise in his second game with the team.
