Luke Del Rio might have found himself some company on the sidelines when the Florida Gators host the LSU Tigers this Saturday in Gainesville. Gators wide receiver Tyrie Cleveland is questionable to play in that game with a high ankle sprain according to head coach Jim McElwain on Monday, per Jordan McPherson of SEC Country.

“He’s in a boot right now,” McElwain said. “You know, the dreaded not normal ankle [sprain], but high ankle.”

Tyrie Cleveland picked up the injury during last week’s 38-24 win over the Vanderbilt Commodores.

Losing Cleveland for Saturday puts Florida’s passing offense on an even shakier plane after learning of Del Rio’s absence for the rest of the season with a broken collarbone.

Cleveland is the best downfield threat in the Gators’ passing attack, as he leads the team in receiving yards (326) this season to go with two touchdowns. He was a reliable asset for the Gators whenever they needed a big play to move the chains. Cleveland has caught at least one reception no shorter than 45 yards in each of the past three games, which incidentally are the only 40 yards or more plays by Florida thus far this season. In addition, Cleveland’s 21.73 yards per catch is 14 in the nation.

With Cleveland out, quarterback Feleipe Franks will have to scatter his passes to a receiving crew that includes Kadarius Toney, Brandon Powell, Josh Hammond, Freddie Swain and Dre Massey.

Rather than asking who is hurt for the Gators moving forward, maybe it will be easier to ask who is actually healthy.
