The Cleveland Browns released Christian Kirksey on Wednesday and there are plenty of teams interested in bringing him in for a visit. According to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, Kirksey is visiting the Green Bay Packers on Thursday.

Shortly after being let go by the Browns, Kirksey met with the Las Vegas Raiders on Wednesday. However, the former third-round pick left his meeting with the Raiders without a contract.

Given that, Kirksey is wisely meeting with all of the teams that are expressing interest in signing him. At the same time, maybe the Packers can convince Kirksey to sign if everything goes well in their meeting with him.

With Blake Martinez set to hit free agency, the Packers are in the market to add a linebacker this offseason. Some fans and the media alike believe Green Bay could look to find Martinez's replacement in this year's draft.

On the other hand, signing a proven veteran could be the most optimal route for the Packers. Ahead of free agency, Green Bay has been rumored to be candidates to sign either Cory Littleton or Joe Schobert.

As for Kirksey, injuries have been a reoccurring theme in the past two seasons, missing 23 games since 2018. But when Kirksey has been able to remain on the field, he's proven that he can be a formidable linebacker in the NFL.

The last time Kirksey started all 16 games, he was able to record 138 tackles and 3.5 sacks. Also, with his versatility, he was able to contribute five deflections and two forced fumbles in 2017. In the event that he can maintain his health, the Packers may be able to find a bargain at linebacker with Kirksey.
