Rafael Nadal defeated Casper Ruud in straight sets to earn his record 14th career victory at the renowned Roland Garros. Nadal extended his seemingly unbeatable record following his win over Ruud, while also adding another Major victory to his belt, putting him further ahead of Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer. What may be the most impressive aspect of Nadal's victory at the French Open this year was the apparent injury he'd been battling throughout the tournament.

Via Stephanie Myles of Open Court, Nadal revealed after his win that he'd been dealing with a foot injury that had his foot numb:

The 36-year-old revealed the pain initially sprung up after his second-round victory at Roland Garros, after which he said he could “hardly walk.” His medical team reportedly blocked the nerve in his foot in order to stop the pain.

Nadal's chronic foot injury flared up again early on in the tournament and seemingly caused him discomfort throughout. After his win, Nadal made clear a change is coming, indicating that he needs to find a solution to the injury as he “can't continue like this.”

Despite having a numb foot throughout most of the tournament at Roland Garros, Nadal managed to defeat some of the biggest names in tennis as he secured his 14th French Open title. In addition to Ruud, Nadal bested the likes of Djokovic, Alexander Zverev, Felix Auger Aliassime, Botic van de Zandschulp, Corentin Moutet, and Jordan Thompson en route to the historic victory.

It's unclear what Nadal's next steps will be, particularly amid his worrying injury revelation. His foot has caused problems in the past, but his latest update on the ailment will surely have fans nervous, despite the superstar still winning a title while hobbled.
