The New York Yankees and Cleveland Guardians played a great baseball game on Saturday. Nestor Cortes and Cal Quantrill both pitched very well to start the contest. New York took a 3-2 lead in the 7th before Cleveland roared back with two runs in the 8th. However, the Yankees scored 2 in the ninth to win via walk-off. But the great product on the field was unfortunately overshadowed by some unruly Yankees fans.

It began on an Isaiah Kiner-Falefa RBI double to tie the game. His line drive shot sent left fielder Steven Kwan crashing into the outfield fence. Kwan appeared to be hurt on the play.

Yankees fans apparently said something to Kwan that upset fellow outfielders Myles Straw and Oscar Mercado. Straw even climbed the fence and got right in the face of the rowdy fans.

Gleyber Torres then slapped an opposite game-winning hit to clinch the victory for the Yankees. But fans immediately began throwing bottles and other things at Mercado and Straw. Mercado walked right up to the right field fence and was jawing back at the fans.

Yankees and Guardians players rushed over and began making sure everybody was safe. Things turned ugly quick.

Here is how the scene unfolded.

Credit to both teams for coming together or things could have gone even worse. Both teams reacted to the monstrosity after the game.

Strict discipline needs to be enforced by the Yankees. Those fans will likely never be allowed to return to Yankee Stadium.

The Yankees and Guardians will play the finale of the series on Sunday with New York up 2-0.
