Dion Lewis signed with the New York Giants in free agency, meaning he will continue his stretch of backing up one of the best running backs in football.

During his time with the Tennessee Titans, he was the No. 2 back behind Derrick Henry. Now in New York, he will serve as second fiddle to Saquon Barkley.

When asked about how the experience with Henry and the Titans will help him with the Giants, Lewis said he feels it will certainly assist him:

“I learned a lot,” the new Giants talent said, according to Tom Rock of Newsday. “I learned how to be a good team player, doing what I can to encourage the guy in front of me. Watching the game. If when they come off they need to ask me a question about anything I’m always really honest. You watch the game from a different perspective. … It’s a unique situation. It’s worked for the past two years with Derrick and I think it will definitely help me come here and do whatever I can to help this group.”

Lewis added that he doesn't know for sure what his role will be with Giants, but that he is perfectly fine figuring it out over time rather than going into the situation with expectations.

The 29-year-old is coming off of a 2019 campaign in which he rushed for 209 yards while catching 25 passes for 164 yards and a touchdown. He was considerably more productive in 2018, when he totaled 517 yards and a score on the ground to go along with 59 receptions for 400 yards and a touchdown.

The Giants back split the first five seasons of his NFL career between the Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots before linking up with the Titans.
