The New York Giants have moved into first place in the NFC East division after a 19-17 win over the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 12. The accomplishment deserves much praise given their early season trajectory, and Giants legend Eli Manning made sure to congratulate his former squad on Sunday.

Following their victory on Sunday, the Giants own the tiebreaker against the Washington Football Team for first place. After getting off to an 0-5 start for the season, many pundits were quick to write the Giants' chances of success off along with their crosstown rivals in the New York Jets. They continued to show signs of struggling as the season progressed, but the storyline has did a complete turnaround as of late.

New York has won their last three games, with two of those games being against division rivals, one of which is Washington. While the feat is quick to celebrate, the Giants must also be wary going forward. Daniel Jones sustained a leg injury during Sunday's matchup against the Bengals that forced him to exit the game. While it appears to only be a hamstring injury, the Giants medical staff will obviously want to proceed cautiously with him in the coming weeks, which could make him unavailable against the Seattle Seahawks.

The Seahawks are one of a few juggernaut-like opponents that remain on the Giants' schedule, which could make their case for maintaining first place a difficult challenge. They'll also face the Arizona Cardinals and Baltimore Ravens in their remaining games, which could make the race for first place against Washington a heavy task.

The Giants are looking at an NFC East landscape in which other teams have also endured switches at quarterback. The Philadelphia Eagles gave Jalen Hurts some work with the first team this week, though Doug Pederson has insisted Carson Wentz is still his starting quarterback.
