The New York Giants are likely to enter the 2024-2025 NFL season with renewed hope and optimism after an offseason that was controversial but could be good for the franchise in the long run. The Giants lost superstar running back Saquon Barkley to the division rival Philadelphia Eagles. Could Barkley's surprising exit could rally the troops?

One young Giants player who seems inspired after the team's offseason losses is Kayvon Thibodeaux, who was selected by Coach Brian Daboll's team number five overall in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Recently New York quarterback Daniel Jones turned heads with a striking appearance at New York's preseason camp. The Giants' scariest pitfall to overcome on their 2024 schedule was also revealed.

On Wednesday, May 29, the Giants legend Strahan's comments in support of Thibodeau'x goals were revealed.

Thibodeaux said he is taking aim at Strahan's NFL sacks record of 22.5 set during the 2001 NFL season.

“Every year I'm here, I'm going for Michael Strahan's record,” Thibodeaux said in a post shared by the NFL on X.

Pittsburgh Steelers pass rusher TJ Watt tied the record in 2021, a season during which the NFL played 17 games for the first time. Last year, Thibodeaux had 11.5 sacks, an impressive total considering the struggles his Giants team faced as a collective. TJ Watt and Strahan's record could be in jeopardy if Thibodeaux's comments are any indication.

Giants legend responds to pass rusher's boast

Strahan said he loved the young Giant and former Duck's confidence. Strahan won a Super Bowl in 2008 with the Giants as David Tyree, Eli Manning and the rest of the team pulled off the improbable upset over Tom Brady, Wes Welker, Randy Moss and the previously undefeated New England Patriots.

Strahan, now 52, shared his thoughts on Thibodeaux's boast in a raw way that most likely caught the Giants superstar's attention.

“I love the confidence and hope you get it,” Strahan said on his X account. “It's a lot harder than you think.”
