While most of the attention surrounding the New York Giants has centered around the offense, it seems they are looking to shore up their depth on defense. As a result, they have expressed interest in cornerback Morris Claiborne and defensive tackle Corey Liuget.

According to ESPN's Field Yates, the Giants hosted both Claiborne and Liuget for a workout.

The Giants hosted former Jets CB Mo Claiborne and former Chargers DT Corey Liuget on free agent visits, per source.

The Giants have no shortage of needs on the defensive end. Both Liuget and Claiborne could have an immediate impact given their resume as proven starters.

Liuget had spent the first eight years of his career with the San Diego and Los Angeles Chargers. He showed plenty of promise early on. unfortunately, his production has dwindled in recent years and he played six games last season due to a quad injury which led the Chargers to not to pick up his option for next season.

Meanwhile, Claiborne has enjoyed a bit of a resurgence with the New York Jets over the last two seasons. The former sixth overall pick's career got off to a rough start with the Dallas Cowboys due to injury. He has largely struggled to justify his status as a former top-10 pick. Fortunately, he was able to find his footing with the Jets and is now looking to stay in New York for a bit longer. It will be interesting to see if the Giants ultimately decide to bring the veterans on board for the 2019 campaign.
