New York Giants ownership got good reviews from Bill Belichick about their new head coach Joe Judge. Giants co-owner John Mara also said that Alabama coach Nick Saban sending Judge to work under Belichick also played a big role.

“Obviously, Nick is not going to send Bill a dog,” Mara said via Tom Rock of Newsday.

Belichick told Mara that Judge thrived with each new thing that was thrown on his plate. Mara said the more he talked to Belichick, the more excited he got about Judge leading the Giants.

“One thing Bill said was that he gave Joe more and more responsibility and very quickly he stopped having to look over his shoulder,” Mara said. “The more I spoke to him, the more excited I got about Joe Judge. . . .”

“I have a lot of respect for Bill. We have a good relationship. He doesn’t have bad coaches on his staff. I think he has said publicly that Joe’s one of the best coaches he’s ever had. All of that was factored in.”

Mara was asked by the media if during the conversation he asked Belichick if he had any interest in joining the Giants. Mara clearly didn't get the joke, pointing out that Belichick is still under contract.

Belichick gave raving reviews for Judge, which got him the job, but now that he is in charge of the team it's going to be different. Hopefully, he is ready for all the pressure that comes with being a head coach for the Giants.
