The New York Giants hung in there for a while against the superior Dallas Cowboys on Monday night, but they weren't able to get the job done.

The Cowboys pulled away from the Giants in the fourth quarter to secure a 37-18 win at MetLife Stadium in Week 9, completing the season sweep of New York and sending it to its fifth straight loss.

Afterward, Giants head coach Pat Shurmur was not happy with the performance.

“I’m disappointed we didn’t do enough things to win the game,” said Shurmur, according to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk. “That’s where I’m at. I’m disappointed we didn’t win. I think everyone in the locker room is that way.”

New York won two straight games in Weeks 3 and 4 after moving from Eli Manning to Daniel Jones, but since then, the Giants have reverted back to their old ways.

Shurmur, who took over as Big Blue's head coach in 2018, has now gone just 7-18 during his time at the helm, and even if the Giants are in rebuilding mode, that has to be frustrating for ownership.

Even more frustrating is the fact that New York was very much in the game for much of the second half, as Dallas only led by one point heading into the fourth quarter. However, the Cowboys outscored the Giants 21-3 during the final frame.

The Giants will now get set to take on the New York Jets next week before entering their Week 11 bye. They will then battle the Chicago Bears on Nov. 24.
