The New York Giants have had an abysmal season, but don't expect the players to lay down to end the year. Ahead of Sunday's contest versus the Washington Redskins, Saquon Barkley claims that New York won't be tanking for the final two games.

“[Young is] a heckuva player, and obviously not only Giants fans but any fans of any team that’s not doing that well this season, would love to have a player like that,” running back Saquon Barkley told the New York Post.

“But I don’t think anyone’s mindset in this locker room or this team is to go out there and lose these last two games.”

Of course, Barkley is referring to Chase Young, the standout defensive end that NFL teams are clamoring for in the 2020 NFL Draft. In the event that Young declares for the draft, he is projected to be taken with the No. 2 overall pick—where the Giants are currently slated to select.

Last week, New York was able to defeat the Miami Dolphins 36-20. The blowout victory over the Dolphins ended the Giants' nine-game losing streak.

Amid the win, Barkley had arguably his best rushing game of the season with 112 yards and two touchdowns. Despite his early-season injury, the Penn State product has totaled 1,045 yards from scrimmage and five total touchdowns.

Even though New York isn't in the playoff race, Barkley is determined to help the Giants finish the season strong. However, a win over the Redskins would lessen New York's chances of landing Young in next year's NFL Draft.
