Former New York Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo is currently in search of a new job, much like his old head coach with the Giants, Ben McAdoo. But despite the disastrous end to their tenure in New York, Spagnuolo still believes McAdoo will get another chance to be a head coach in the league.

“It was a really tough year,” Spagnuolo told Jim Miller and Pat Kirwan on SiriusXM Radio via Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk. “I want to say this up front, Ben McAdoo, who was our head coach, in my opinion will be a head coach again. He did an outstanding job. I mean, we just had things kind of snowball the wrong way this year. Sometimes when that ball gets rolling the wrong way it’s hard to push it back up and get going in the middle of it.”

The Giants parted ways with McAdoo after a horrific 2-10 start to the season. He also drew some heavy criticism for his decision to bench Eli Manning, finally ending the Giants quarterback’s amazing consecutive starts streak. Spagnuolo served as the team’s interim coach for the final four games of the year before he too was let go.

Spagnuolo may very well prove to be correct in terms of McAdoo eventually getting another head coaching gig in the league. However, the former Giants head coach may need to wait awhile before that happens. He has been linked with some vacant offensive coordinator jobs this offseason, which may help repair his stock before he gets another shot as a head coach.
