Good news: the New York Giants are somehow currently in first place in the ugly NFC East division as the team's postseason aspirations are now very, very real. Bad news: the team's starting quarterback Daniel Jones could reportedly miss “some time” after injuring his hamstring during the third quarter of Sunday afternoon's victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.

Per Jordan Raanan of ESPN:

A source told ESPN the initial belief is that it's a ‘pretty bad' hamstring injury. More tests are scheduled Monday to determine the full extent of the injury.

With Jones being forced out from the contest–a game that the Giants went on to win by the score of 19-17–New York ultimately turned to veteran backup quarterback Colt McCoy in his absence.

The Giants have now won three consecutive games following the team's dismal 1-7 start to the 2020 season. At 4-7 on the campaign, they are tied atop the division with the Washington Football Team, though New York owns the tiebreaker over their NFC East foe as they have defeated them twice this year.

It is also worth noting that the 3-6-1 Philadelphia Eagles have yet to play in Week 12 as they are slated to face the Seattle Seahawks on Monday evening. The 3-8 Dallas Cowboys were upended by the aforementioned Washington Football Team on Thanksgiving.

Potentially losing Daniel Jones could prove quite costly for the Giants in more than one way as well. After all, there is a chance that their recent surge could be halted with the injury news. It remains to be seen how the team will adjust moving forward, but all hope is not lost in the relatively weak NFC East.
