The New York Giants have spent “a lot of time” doing its research on quarterback Justin Herbert.

Despite already possessing their franchise QB in Daniel Jones, the Giant have taken an interest in the Oregon product. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, New York head coach Joe Judge has FaceTimed Herbert. The 6-foot-6 quarterback is quickly skyrocketing on teams' draft boards. He is expected to be selected within the top several picks; the Giants own the fourth pick in the draft.

“A draft tidbit to file away for Thursday: The #Giants have spent a lot of time researching #Oregon QB Justin Herbert, a process that’s included FaceTime conversations with coach Joe Judge, per me and @MikeGarafolo
. NYG has been exhaustive in its draft prep at No. 4.”

There are a number of teams that have taken an interest in Herbert. The Miami Dolphins and Los Angeles Chargers, for example, are two teams who could realistically draft Herbert. The Dolphins hold the No. 5 overall pick, while the Chargers hold the No. 6 overall pick.

It's clear that teams are being swayed by Herbert's size, his rocket arm and his intelligence. The 22-year-old QB scored a 39 on the Wonderlic test, one of the highest scores by any quarterback prospect.

With all of this being said, it's more than likely the Giants are just doing their proper research on Herbert. While it would be intriguing for the Giants to surprisingly select Herbert, the team has already placed its trust in Jones. The 22-year-old QB replaced Eli Manning as the starting quarterback after 15 years as New York's signal caller.

It's hard to envision a scenario where New York creates a QB controversy a year after selecting Jones with the sixth overall pick. Therefore, don't place your money on the Giants drafting Herbert with the fourth overall pick.
