Having been as successful as he has been since starting his head coaching career in the NBA, Gregg Popovich has seen it all and is hard to impress. However, when it comes to the Utah Jazz, he admires their organization and respects their coach and general manager.

Popovich worked with Quin Snyder and Dennis Lindsey before they moved to Salt Lake City and has fond memories of them. He was asked recently about what he thinks of the Jazz and only had good words to say, via Jody Genessy of Deseret News.

“I’ve always been impressed with the Jazz from way, way, way back when, as I think everybody knows. In this edition with Quin there and Dennis, they’ve done a great job.”

He also added that he feels Snyder deserves to be in the Coach of the Year conversation as he has led the Jazz to a 47-30 record so far this season, which is good for fourth place in the tough Western Conference.

“There’s about four or five of those guys, and Quin’s one of them (for) what he’s done with that group to make them play that hard and execute that well night after night. He's in that mix.”

After his successful stint with Missouri in the NCAA, Snyder worked for the Spurs as the head coach of their D-League affiliate, the Austin Toros, from 2007-2010, which helped him land the head coaching job in Utah. Snyder gives a lot of credit to Popovich and his team, as he knows he wouldn't be where he is now without the knowledge he gained from them.

The Spurs defeated the Jazz 109-103 on Sunday.
