If you follow the NBA at all, then you surely heard about the failed trade between the Memphis Grizzlies and the Phoenix Suns, where the Grizzlies tried to acquire Trevor Ariza but the Suns mistook MarShon Brooks for Dillon Brooks, effectively killing the deal.

As one might expect, Memphis general manager Chris Wallace was not happy about the confusion, according to Jonathan Feigen of The Houston Chronicle:

“I don't carry grudges,” Wallace said, “but I'm not happy about what happened. We were very clear about who was in the trade. Contrary to reports, it was not Dillon Brooks, which put us in a very difficult situation with our players. Individuals from one or both of those teams leaked the deal, while we were playing last night. That forced me to do something I've never done in 30-plus years working in this league for seven teams, which was to drag two players out of the locker room and tell them they have been traded and eventually have to come back in and tell them, ‘no you haven't been traded.'”

Talk about an awkward situation.

Ariza was then eventually traded to the Washington Wizards, leaving the Grizzlies out in the cold and still searching for more upgrades to what has been a surprisingly solid team thus far this season.

As for MarShon, who was the Brooks Memphis intended to trade, well, let's just say things aren't too rosy for him right now.

“It's a little awkward,” said MarShon. “I'm a human. I have feelings. I'm not just numb to the situation. But I'm a Memphis Grizzly and I'm ready to play.”

The Grizzlies are currently 16-13. They fell to the Houston Rockets on Saturday night.
