Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant was not surprised by the MVP chants he received when they visited the Orlando Magic on Saturday, which speaks volumes on the kind of season he's having.

Morant, who is heading to his first All-Star game this February (and as a starter no less), exploded for 33 points on top of five rebounds and seven assists to beat the Magic 135-115. He already had 27 points after 24 minutes of play, which was when he heard the Orlando crowd chanting MVP.

After the contest when asked if he has heard MVP chants when playing on the road before, the Grizzlies superstar confidently answered “a lot.”

Certainly, Ja Morant is not falling short in confidence, and for good reason. After all, there is no doubt he is playing like an MVP this 2021-22, catapulting the Grizzlies into the Top 3 of the Western Conference standings–all after a year of barely making it as a play-in contender.

It's also hard to blame road fans for giving Morant the MVP treatment. The Grizzlies youngster is always fun to watch, and as many would say, he is giving MVP Derrick Rose vibes with his style of play.

Morant has been appreciative of the love he's getting, and he's giving it back by performing with his usual flare and aggressiveness. If the Grizzlies continue to climb up the standings, it won't be surprising to see him officially be named MVP.
