Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant welcomed the indefinite ban on three Utah Jazz fans who crossed the line in heckling Morant’s family in Game 2 of their first round series on Wednesday.

In a story by ESPN reporter Tim MacMahon, Tee Morant, the father of the high-flying Grizzlies guard, revealed that aside from the sorry incident, he had a good time exchanging good-natured smack talk with some of the friendlier Jazz fans.

“We were bantering back and forth with a group of fans around us all game. We had a good time.”

The older Morant, who has always been a passionate supporter of his son, shared that one sociable Jazz fan told him to return next week. And the old man of the reigning Rookie of the Year sure knows how to dish a reply.

“You better know I'm going to be back when we're up 3-1 and close you out.”

The fruit doesn’t fall far from the tree, indeed.

The younger Morant exploded for a career-high 47 points in a losing effort in Game 2, breaking a bunch of records in the process. But his impressive evening was stained by the unruly behavior of the three Jazz fans, who spewed uncouth, sexist, and racist remarks towards Morant’s family.

While Morant’s dad said he’s always loved trash-talking, there’s a line that should never be crossed.

“I know heckling. We were doing that the whole game. But that's different than heckling. That's straight up disrespectful. That was too far out of line. You don't say nothing like that heckling. That's beyond heckling.”

Ja Morant will look to move on and try to lead the Grizzlies to a 2-1 lead in Game 3 at home on Saturday. He won’t be hearing any heckling there, for sure.
