GTA5 has had one of the longest-lasting lifespans of any video game. While that's in large part due to the game's online mode, the story mode is also a classic replay. GTA can thank characters like Michael De Santa for that. Now, Michael may be making his return to the GTA stage in GTA6 at some point in the future.

De Santa's voice actor, Ned Luke has hinted at the fact that his character will make a return in GTA6. While there's still not much information about the release of GTA6, we do know that there will be a first trailer for the game coming this December. Perhaps we'll get a look at Michael De Santa back in action in Rockstar's next installment in the GTA franchise. GTA6 rumors have been swirling for just about a decade now, but the fact that Ned Luke even responded to a fan's tweet about the game could have some major implications.

Now before we jump the gun, there isn't too much to go on here. However, Luke's lack of a proper answer is somewhat of an answer itself. If he hadn't been invited back to reprise his role as Michael De Santa, Luke easily could have said his goodbyes after GTA5. This cryptic response, however, suggests that he's maybe involved in some way. It's also fair to say that Ned Luke may be obligated to stay quiet about his involvement in GTA6. With a game, this massive and popular, developers try to limit as many leaks as possible. Luke's involvement as De Santa in the next game would be an extremely welcomed surprise, but Rockstar would almost certainly want to keep it a surprise until the very end.

A return for Michael De Santa in GTA6 is extremely plausible. Depending on Franklin's choice in the final mission of GTA 5, Michael can either live or die. Since all three characters survive in the “Deathwish” ending to the last mission of the game, it's safe to say Michael is alive and well. Franklin's appearance in GTA Online also heavily implies that after the end of GTA 5's story, Michael found work as a movie producer. So it wouldn't be too much of a stretch for Michael to take a little trip to Vice City (where GTA 6 is supposedly set), at which point he may make a brief appearance.

It'd also be cool to see Michael De Santa return as a playable character. It wouldn't be surprising if GTA has moved on from that stage of the character's story, but it's still always an option. If he's not a playable character, at least give Michael a role in some side missions. Since he's now supposedly a movie producer, perhaps a role like Solomon had in GTA5 would be a good fit for the character.

Whatever the case, another appearance by this beloved character would be welcomed with open arms. There's no news or rumors on other characters returning to GTA 6. If Steven Ogg (Trevor) and Shawn Fonteno (Franklin) are set to appear, they've stayed quiet about it. Since Luke isn't likely to reveal anything more at this point, Rockstar might want to keep something like this a surprise until the game is released. it'll be impossible to say for sure until GTA6's release date is finally known.
