The Guardians make the trip to Chicago to face the White Sox! These two teams are complete opposites this season, with the Guardians being one of the best teams in the MLB, while the White Sox have been one of the worst teams this season. Our MLB odds series has our Guardians-White Sox prediction, odds, and pick for Friday.

The Guardians have been great this season at 24-13. Their bats have dipped recently and are in the bottom half of the MLB as a unit. In comparison, their pitching has been a top-10 pitching staff. Steven Kwan, Jose Ramirez, Andres Gimenez, Tyler Freeman, and Josh Naylor have carried the Guardians behind the plate. Tanner Bibee, Triston McKenzie, and Ben Lively have held down the fort in the pitching staff very well despite their ace, Shane Bieber, being injured. The Guardians have been great to start the year and they get a good matchup against a struggling White Sox team.

The White Sox are competing with the Rockies for the title of worst team in the MLB so far this season. They have a 9-28 record, so far this season. They are the second-worst team in the MLB behind the plate, only in front of the Reds. Then, they are also struggling on the mound, ranking third to last in team ERA. Gavin Sheets, Paul DeJong, and Andrew Benintendi are standouts on an awful offense, while the only notable pitchers in the lineup are Erick Fedde and Michael Kopech. The White Sox have struggled this season and have not done much right this season and a matchup against the Guardians is not going to help that much.

Why The Guardians Will Cover The Spread/Win

The Guardians are going with Carlos Carrasco on the mound and he has a 2-2 record, a 5.67 ERA, and a 1.62 WHIP. Carrasco has allowed 21 runs on 37 hits with 17 walks and 26 strikeouts. In his seven appearances, the Guardians are 3-4. In his last start, he pitched six innings and allowed one run on six hits with two walks and three strikeouts in a Guardians win. Carrasco has been inconsistent this season, but he has a good matchup against a struggling White Sox offense.

The Guardians are a very good team behind the plate, but they have dipped recently. They are 17th in team batting average at .240 after finishing last season with a .259 batting average which was top five in the MLB. The offense is led by Steven Kwan, Jose Ramirez, and Josh Naylor lead the way in most of the batting categories. Steven Kwan leads the way in batting average at .353, in OBP at .407, and in total hits at 47. Josh Naylor leads the way in home runs at nine and Ramirez leads in RBI so far at 30. They get a very good matchup against Garrett Crochet for the White Sox on the mound because of how much the White Sox have struggled this season.

Why The White Sox Will Cover The Spread/Win

The White Sox are putting Garrett Crochet on the mound where he has a 2-4 record, a 5.31 ERA, and a 1.01 WHIP. He has allowed 24 runs on 32 hits with nine walks and 53 strikeouts through 40.2 innings. The White Sox have gone 2-6 in his eight appearances on the mound this season. In his last start, he pitched six innings and allowed one run on three hits with zero walks and six strikeouts in a win. He has been a part of a struggling pitching staff and this matchup against the Guardians is not going to help much.

The offense for the White Sox has been the second-worst in the entire MLB. The White Sox are 29th in the MLB in team batting average at .211 after having a team batting average of .238 last season. Gavin Sheets, Andrew Benintendi, and Paul DeJong lead the way for the offense in most categories. Sheets leads the way in batting average at .262, in OBP at .360, and in total hits at 28. Andrew Benintendi then leads the way in RBI at 13 and then Paul DeJong leads the way with five home runs so far this season. The White Sox offense gets a good matchup in this spot against Carlos Carrasco.

Final Guardians-White Sox Prediction & Pick

The Guardians are easily the better team in this game. It has been a massive struggle of a season for the White Sox, but this matchup on the mound is relatively close. However, the difference is behind the plate. The Guardians have the much better offensive potential overall than the White Sox. This game should stay close for a bit, but the Guardians are better and should win and cover on the road in Chicago.
