Trae Young believes he has a legitimate chance to break out as an All-Star player in his second season in the league, so long as he's able to propel the Atlanta Hawks into playoff contention. The 21-year-old already showed signs of becoming an elite-level point guard, averaging 19.1 points, 3.7 rebounds and 8.1 assists per game, which ranked fourth in the league.

His numbers are only bound to take another climb after a full training camp following his rookie season, but Young insists it will be the Ws in the win-loss column that will determine whether he merits the honor or not.

“I believe I have a chance to be an All-Star this year,” Trae Young told Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports. “I think if we win as many games as I feel like we can and at least be in playoff contention, I think I have a good chance. The more we win, the better my odds are of getting into the All-Star Game and that’s my main focus: winning. I know my numbers will be there. I’m not worried about my numbers. I feel like the way we play, the fast pace we play, my numbers will be there. For me, it’s all about winning. If we’re winning, I have a really good chance of being in that All-Star game.”

Young will have to fight off several other capable point guards in his conference like Kyrie Irving, Kemba Walker, and Ben Simmons, among others. Yet the potential is there to break through if he can make enough of a difference for his team and make the Hawks turn some heads this season.
