Trae Young was heated after the Atlanta Hawks fell to the Dallas Mavericks after a non-call during Wednesday's contest. Due to Young getting into an official's face when the final buzzer sounded, Young has been handed a $20,000 fine by the NBA, per The Athletic's Shams Charania.

Late in Wednesday's game, the Hawks had a chance to take the lead on their final possession of the game. Atlanta would draw up a play during their timeout and Young would set a screen, only to be knocked over by Willie Cauley-Stein of the Mavericks.

Instead of calling a foul on Cauley-Stein, the officials allowed the game to proceed, as usual, causing Young to say something to the officials once the game ended. Young would have to be pulled away by members of the team as the Hawks exited the court.

Amid his altercation with the referee, regardless of what he said to the official on the sideline, the NBA doesn't condone players getting into spats with referees. Therefore, the league took matters into their own hands in fining Young for his actions on Wednesday.

Following the disappointing loss, Lloyd Pierce shared his reaction to the ending of the game while also revealing what the officials told him happened. Pierce said the referees believed it was an illegal screen if anything, which prompted them to swallow their whistles late in the game.

The Hawks believe they weren't given a fair chance to win on Wednesday due to a questionable no-call that would have had Young at the free-throw line. Nevertheless, the NBA is fining Young for jawing with an official at the end of the game.
