Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade has never been shy to speak his mind about the different social issues the country is facing. With last week’s violent shooting incident in Parkland, Florida, the 15-year NBA veteran once again made his thoughts known about it and made it clear that he condemns such acts.

The former 12-time All-Star also became emotional when he found out that one of the victims was laid to rest wearing his jersey. That said, he was moved by it, and he recently announced via his Twitter account that he will dedicating the remainder of the season to him, while adding that what he’s doing is bigger than basketball.

The shooting incident has caught the attention of the whole world, as 17 innocent lives were lost in what can be considered one of the darkest days of the country. A number of players and members of the NBA community tried to raise awareness by voicing out their opinion of it, and wanting to impart the message that there’s no room for such violence anywhere.

With Wade dedicating the Heat’s remaining games this year to Joaquin Oliver, it could motivate him to play at a higher level, which will definitely benefit the South Beach team as well. They are currently in eighth place in the East and will be part of the dog fight for one of the last playoff spots in their conference. If he plays inspired basketball from here on out, it could be bad news for the rest of the competition, and will also be a fitting way to honor the life of one of his fans who lost his life at a very young age.
