Miami Heat point guard Goran Dragic and head coach Erik Spoelstra really like what they are seeing from guard Dion Waiters in training camp.

With the help of David Alexander — who has trained LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Paul — Waiters lost 20 pounds this offseason and is in the best shape of his life.

“He looks really explosive,” Dragic said, via Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald. “He looks great. He looks healthy, he looks happy. You can see that on the floor. He’s finally back and he can show what he can do. He can break guys down and get inside the paint and make everybody else better.”

“He’s moving better, and that’s the biggest thing,” Spoelstra said. “On the third day of camp, when you expect guys’ legs to be fatigued, I thought he moved his best and his quickest, which is a really good sign. We’re all encouraged to see him healthy and in shape. He feels good about his body, as well as he should. He still has some work to do. That’s what training camp is for.”

After only playing in 74 games the past two seasons due to injury, Dion Waiters is healthy now and eager to help the Heat make the playoffs this season.

Waiters averaged 12.0 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.8 assists last season for the Heat while shooting 41.4 percent from the field, 37.7 percent from beyond the arc and just 50.0 percent from the free-throw line. He missed the first 35 games of the season because of the ankle surgery he underwent in the 2017-18 campaign.

Waiters will make $12.1 million in 2019-20. He signed a four-year, $52 million deal with the Heat in the summer of 2017.
