Miami Heat center Hassan Whiteside told reporters on Tuesday he will weigh his options this summer.

Whiteside has a player option worth $27,093,019 for next season. The big man believes he's a player who should be getting more than 20 minutes a night.

“I’m definitely going to weigh my options,” said Whiteside, via Barry Jackson and Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald. “It’s definitely a decision I got to make and do the best for me. I feel like if I’m playing, I’m going to produce so it will take care of itself.

“I don’t think I’m a 20-minute guy. I average what, 20 minutes? So I think I can play more and I can do more. So I definitely think what I bring to the game is at a high level for my position. You know, I led the league in categories that you would want a big man to lead the league in. I feel like I can keep doing that.”

The Heat started Bam Adebayo at the center position to close out the season. Miami is very high on Adebayo.

Hassan Whiteside signed a four-year, $98 million contract with the Heat in the summer of 2016. His minutes and role on the team have diminished since then. The 29-year-old is averaging 12.3 points and 11.3 rebounds per game this season while shooting 57.1 percent from the field.

There's no way Whiteside is going to get more money on the open market, though, so we'll see if he's back with the Heat next season. Miami tried to trade Whiteside last summer. They could try again this offseason.
