Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler put up an historic performance on Friday, as he led his team to a hard-fought 102-96 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 5 of the NBA Finals. The All-Star forward put up an epic triple-double, and he did it with only 48 seconds of rest throughout the ballgame.

With the Lakers just one win away from a victory, the Heat had their backs against the wall. Butler willed them to victory, as he finished with 35 points on 11-of-19 shooting, to go along with 12 rebounds, 11 assists, five steals, and a block. The 31-year-old was visibly exhausted in the dying moments of the game, and the fact that he sat out just 48 seconds in this one certainly explains that.

This was Butler's second triple-double in the Finals, following his 40-point trip-dub in Miami's Game 3 win over the Lakers. It is no coincidence that the Heat pulled off another victory with Butler putting up another performance for the ages.

For L.A., LeBron James did everything he could to clinch the title for his team. He logged 40 points on 15-of-21 from the floor, 13 rebounds, seven assists, and three steals. LeBron also drained six triples on the evening, but in the end, Miami's will and fortitude just proved too much for James and the Lakers.

Miami has now cut the series deficit to 3-2, with Game 6 scheduled for Sunday. The Heat still remain to be the underdogs here, but they've continued to prove their doubters wrong at every turn.
