Meyers Leonard will be entering his first season with the Miami Heat armed with an expanded offensive game. He has worked hard on his shot over the years and is pumped up and ready to lock and load for his new team.

To recall, Leonard was traded from the Portland Trail Blazers to the Heat in a four-team trade in July. Last year, in his last season with Miami, the former 11th overall pick shot 45 percent from 3-point distance — a career-high. This year, he aims to take it up a notch.

“I'm going to do what's asked of me,” he said, per Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. “If I'm open, I'm going to shoot it. That's one thing I feel that, particularly last year, I started to do a better job of is take more contested shots.”

The 7-foot-1 center is well at ease with his position now. Coupled with his confident stroke, Leonard also has the ability to rough it up with the big boys down low.

“I really, really feel that I’ll be able to provide a very unique skill-set and the ability to roll all the way to the rim, to half roll and play-make or to pick and pop to three,” Leonard added. “So it’s something I’ve worked very, very hard on.”

Leonard was definitely a great acquisition for Miami. He seems to be entering the peak of his career where he's grown comfortable in his skin. And this bodes well for the Heat who are looking to head back to playoff contention.
