Since claiming that he should be in the same conversation with the likes of Luka Doncic, Ja Morant and Trae Young, Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro has been walking the talk.

Sure, he is not carrying his team like those players he mentioned–the Heat have Jimmy Butler to lead them anyway. However, it could be easily said he has been the second-best player of Miami (or even the best at times).

On Tuesday against the brightest young star in the NBA in Doncic, Herro lit up the scoreboard with 25 points on top of three rebounds and four assists to help propel the Heat to a huge 125-110 win over the Dallas Mavericks. In the process, Herro made history for the most points scored by a reserve in the team's first seven games.

Jason Terry (2007) and Michael Brooks (1980) previously held the record with 156 points. Herro, for his part, has 157 points according to Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

Sure Tyler Herro is playing around 30 minutes a night, but it doesn't erase the fact that what he has been doing is phenomenal–especially after all the criticisms he took for failing to live up to the hype he created in his rookie season.

Herro is proving that his sensational rookie year is no fluke, and as he continues his revenge season, the Heat are also benefiting nicely. After the win over Dallas, the team improved to 6-1 to claim the top seed in the East along with the Chicago Bulls.
