In their final game against each other, Miami Heat icon Dwyane Wade edged out Dallas Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki, 18-17 in their career head-to-head matchup.

Per NBA TV, peep Wade and Nowitzki's head-to-head record. They're knotted at six games apiece in playoff wins. They've won one NBA Finals over each other and both have one NBA Finals MVP. But in terms of regular season wins, Wade takes the crown over Nowitzki.

The two legends met each other for the final time on Thursday where the Heat won, 105-99. Wade finished with 11 points, two rebounds, and two assists in 28 minutes. Nowitzki, meanwhile, had 13 points, three rebounds, and one assist in 28 minutes.

The Wade-Nowitzki rivalry will go down as one of the classic match-ups in basketball. To recall, Wade got the best of the Mavs back in the NBA 2006 when he single-handedly led the Heat to a championship. Wade and company were down 2-0 in the series. But Wade — who was just in his third year in the NBA — put his team on his back and beat the Mavs in six games.

Fast forward to 2011, Nowitzki and Wade faced each other again in the NBA Finals. This time, Wade had LeBron James and Chris Bosh with him. Yet this did not faze Nowitzki and crew. In six games, the Mavs ousted the Heat. Nowitzki finally won his first ring.
