Charlotte Hornets would be welcoming back former player Gerald Henderson, but as a member of its broadcast team.

Chris Haynes of Yahoo! Sports broke the news, confirming that Gerald Henderson will be part of the Hornets' broadcast team for the rest of the season.

The high-flying guard played six seasons for the Charlotte franchise. He also played for the Portland Trailblazers and Philadelphia 76ers for one season apiece.

Henderson had his best years with the Hornets and started over 200 games for them. He ended his career with averages of 11.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game. Additionally, he shot 44 percent from the field and 33 percent from three.

Henderson played for the Charlotte Bobcats through some tough seasons. Of his six seasons, the team made the playoffs twice and was eliminated in the first round both times. The Duke product also started 55 games for the team in 2011-12, when they went 7-59 in the lockout-shortened season and were the worst team in the league.

Even through the struggles, Henderson stuck it out with the team for quite some time. Now, his loyalty and passion for the game have been rewarded. He will get to call games for the team that he gave so much for.

Henderson will join the team of Dell Curry, Eric Collins and Stephanie Ready broadcasting Hornets games on television. He will certainly be a welcome addition to the team and can provide some analysis from a player's point of view. True Charlotte fans will be rooting him on.
