The Charlotte Hornets were the third team this season to give Isaiah Thomas a chance in the NBA again after the Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks previously signed him to 10-day contracts. After impressing James Borrego and his staff, the Hornets are now planning to keep IT around for the remainder of the 2021-22 campaign.

Following the news, Thomas reacted on social media:

IT has played seven games for the Hornets, adding a nice scoring punch off the bench. In just 13.4 minutes per night, the NBA journeyman is averaging 9.9 points on a ridiculous 48% clip from beyond the arc.

In fact, since IT arrived, the Hornets are 5-2 and have won five in a row, which now puts them in ninth place in the East. While Thomas might not be the same player who put up 28.9 points per contest in 2018-19 with the Boston Celtics, he's still more than capable of contributing at a high level.

Aside from Montrezl Harrell and Mason Plumlee, there isn't a lot of older players on the Hornets roster. Thomas knows exactly what it takes to succeed at this level and can offer wisdom to the likes of LaMelo Ball and Miles Bridges. It will be interesting to see if they keep him around for the long run after the season ends. After all, IT is only 33.
