The Charlotte Hornets have secured Isaiah Thomas a roster spot after a win over the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday night, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.

The journeyman veteran point guard has been looking for a home for the past few years. In the 2021-22 season alone, he had stops with the Los Angeles Lakers and the Dallas Mavericks. It was only a matter of time before IT found somewhere that can use his services. After lighting up the G League, it was clear that he never belonged out of the league, let alone for as long as he was.

As soon as Thomas showed up in Charlotte, his presence was felt immediately by his teammates and coaching staff. James Borrego has raved about the type of impact he would have the young guys, especially on LaMelo Ball, who also says that Thomas has pulled him to the side to go over things since he's gotten there. Miles Bridges has also said several times just how important his addition to the Hornets was as “he impacts winning every night, even when he doesn’t play.”

Isaiah Thomas has averaged 10 points a game off the bench in nine outings. More importantly, though, the team is 7-2 in that span since he joined the Hornets. The Hornets were in the market for a backup point guard after trading away Ish Smith, and they got an improvement they didn't see coming.

Mitch Kupchak and company have done a fantastic job getting both Montrezl Harrell and Thomas in the later part of the season. Both guys have contributed to winning instantly.

The Hornets are still vying for a playoff spot and Thomas is expected to be a crucial part of their success moving forward. A very classy move by the Hornets for the point guard everyone wanted to see win.
