LaMelo Ball‘s Rookie of the Year trophy has its newest companion inside the Charlotte Hornets guard's crib. After a sterling debut season in the NBA, Ball gets recognized once more at the 2021 ESPYS.

The future is looking bright for the Hornets, thanks to LaMelo Ball's talent and upside. The flamboyant playmaker burst right out of the gates, exhibiting an unbelievable feel for the game despite being a first-year player with no college experience.

Then again, the Hornets point guard was already under the spotlight at an earlier age. His route to the NBA was not traditional, spending time in Lithuania and Australia before being drafted third overall by Charlotte in 2020.

LaMelo Ball transformed the Hornets into a must-watch team, thanks to his nightly dose of flair and exciting play. Without a doubt, Ball has become one of the most promising youngsters in the NBA. He began the season coming off the bench but eventually earned his stripes as a starter for Charlotte.

Ball suffered a wrist injury that forced him to miss over a month of action. That didn't stop him from making an impact, though, as didn't miss a beat, eventually leading the Hornets to a Play-In Tournament spot. In 51 games during the regular season, Ball averaged 15.7 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 6.1 assists.

The Hornets entered the offseason with high hopes as Ball, Terry Rozier, Devonte' Graham, Miles Bridges, and PJ Washington spearheading their youth movement. However, Charlotte is still in need of a reliable big man.

Owners of the 11th overall pick and a number of trade assets, expect them to be busy bees in the coming months.
