The season of Charlotte Hornets guard LaMelo Ball is in jeopardy after it was revealed he fractured his wrist.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Ball is feared to have sustained the right wrist  injury after his fall against the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday. The Hornets, however, are seeking second opinions on the injury and what steps they can take next.

On the other hand, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN noted that Ball could miss the rest of the season with the injury:

These are from arguably the two top NBA insiders in the game today, and while their reports don't match 100 percent, it is clear that Ball has suffered a major injury here. The only thing up in the air right now is if how much time he's going to spend on the shelf. We expect an official statement form the Hornets soon.

This is a tough, tough blow for Ball (and of course, the Hornets as well) who is in the midst of a breakout rookie campaign. The 19-year-old has been the clear frontrunner for this season's Rookie of the Year award, and as it is, this recent development might have a significant impact on the ROY race.

James Wiseman of the Golden State Warriors has been making noise of late, and the same can be said for first overall pick Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberwolves. A season-ending injury for Ball could make it a wide-open race.

Prayers up for LaMelo and we all hope for a speedy recovery for the Hornets rookie.
