After over a month sidelined with a wrist injury, Charlotte Hornets rookie LaMelo Ball will finally make his much-anticipated return to the court on Saturday against the Pistons, per the Athletic's Sham Charania:

This is massive news for Charlotte, who is still in the playoff race in the East. They've struggled lately though, going 3-7 in their last 10 while losing two straight.

Ball has been electrifying in his first season in the association, averaging 15.9 points, 6.1 assists, and 5.9 rebounds. Prior to the injury, the Hornets star was considered a frontrunner for the Rookie of the Year Award, but Anthony Edwards' resurgence may be too much to overcome.

Nonetheless, Ball's presence in the lineup will be quickly felt from a scoring and playmaking standpoint. He currently leads the Hornets in dimes per game and has emerged as one of the most promising facilitators in the NBA.

The team could really use him right now as they look to potentially make a run at a top-six finish, but the play-in tournament seems like more of a reality at this point.

It was initially expected that LaMelo would miss the rest of the season due to the injury, but he's recovered very quickly. Truly an all-around talent, Charlotte will be ecstatic to have one of their floor generals back.
