The University of Washington Huskies have decided to fire Coach Jimmy Lake. This comes out after Lake was suspended earlier this week for shoving and hitting current linebacker Ruperake Fuava. Fuava wasn't the only one who came out and said that Lake had pushed him. Another former player has accused Lake of doing something similar to him two years ago.

College sports, and sports, in general, have no place for this in their game. It's one thing to hold your players accountable and even scream in their face a little bit, but once you put your hands on one of the players, that crosses the line.

Lake has been on the Washington coaching staff since 2014 where he was the defensive back coach for four seasons before taking over as a defensive coordinator in 2018-19. He has been the head coach since 2020 and in his time as the Huskies head coach, he has a 7-6 record. There was a chance that he was going to be fired after the season regardless of what he did, but now with what he did, it was a no-brainer for the Huskies athletic department.

Lake has been fired and there are currently no lawsuits against him but that will be interesting to keep an eye on moving forward here. Two players have already come out and said that he has done something by putting their hands on them. This could lead more players they come out saying that leak also did it to them in the past.
